Most people in business and government can't normally use IM systems, because they put programs on their PCs, which can clash with in-house software, and breach firewalls (letting in viruses with incoming messages). Most employers also object to the distracting links to leisure websites. Another problem with most IM programs is their lack of message security. They were never intended to be hack proof, and they are easily opened and read. Equally, the applications usually store a record of all your conversations on your PC, exposing everything you have ever said to anyone who then gains access to it.

TravelChat™ has none of these drawbacks. Whilst it looks like other instant messaging systems, you are actually visiting a secure website, and chatting on there, so it doesn't need an application on your PC and doesn't breach your firewall. Then, when you finish a conversation, there is no record on your PC of what was said.

As well as being very easy to use, because TravelChat™ doesn't depend on your PC, you can access it from any computer linked to the web, anywhere in the world, (internet cafes, public libraries etc). You can also hold several conversations at once and call yourself anything you like (Do remember to tell your colleagues, if "rubberduck" is really you!). The little screen even turns bright red to alert you when a new message arrives.

TravelChat™ is free, but if you feel your work is very sensitive, you can subscribe to the secure service. This costs just £26 (€35) per year and encrypts your messages to the standard used for sending credit card details around the web. Just click on the key icon in the top and pay on PayPal.

To start using TravelChat™, just go back to the log-in screen and fill in the simple form. Once on-line, click on the "Add contact" icon on the left of the top bar and ask the server to email your colleagues, inviting them to join too. If any of them are already on TravelChat™, you can find them in the list of existing users and ask to become their contact.

Marketing through TravelChat™
TravelChat™ is primarily used by people working in business and government, especially within the travel sector, all over the world. Because of this profile, a much higher proportion of these users are key decision makers. While such people object to being bombarded with advertisements, they do welcome being shown a limited amount of relevant, clear messages. To meet this need, TravelChat™ has just one, vertical noticeboard on its messaging page, which can be booked by the week.

Important: If you have your own version of Travelchat™, in your livery, the Registry can monitor your usage levels and so allocate you a proportion of any revenue from notices that appear on “your” version. Having your own liveried version also enables you to sell notices yourself, for all of which you receive a monthly royalty.
